PPT's Chief Engineer Receives Engineer of the Year Award from Systems Safety Society HUNTSVILLE, AL, - PPT Solutions', Inc. (PPT) Chief Engineer Greg Turgeon received the Engineer of the Year Award from the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Systems Safety Society (SSS). Turgeon received the Award at the Society’s Annual Membership Meeting at the Grille 29 restaurant in Huntsville took place on June 16. The Engineer of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual member of the Society who has made contributions to System Safety by development of engineering methods, standards, or designs that have contributed significantly to the safety of operations of use of systems or products. These professionals perform the System Safety Engineering function (analysis, safety engineering design review, etc.) on a particular project and they are primarily responsible for the development and application of engineering standards for the safe interface and interaction between systems and people. Turgeon directly supports systems safety efforts for a number of government and commercial customers in the following ways: development of an automated testing tool known as ATVG, FAA Software Designated Engineering Representative (DER) services, independent verification and validation services, independent safety reviews, software systems safety support services, utilizing formal methods techniques and tools to model and analyze software requirements In addition to the direct support Turgeon provides to PPT customers, he has contributed to systems safety as an active member and contributor of the Systems Safety Society and as a PPT recruiter and educator for safety professionals. “Greg is an excellent supervisor regarding systems safety. His excitement for the field is contagious. He continually demonstrates his high expectations for air worthiness in the software he evaluates, and he genuinely cares about advancing the state of the field and finding new and better methods to ensure safety.
